About the role

To support our growing business needs and requirements, a newly created role has arisen for an experienced on site Safety Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of Health, Safety and the Environment across our Yilgarn Operations. The role offers a rolling 4/3, 4/3, 8/6 roster.

The Health, Safety and Environment Manager is a person who can influence behavior and decision making. They provide support to the operations in all aspects related to Health, Safety, Safety Culture and the Environment. They assist in the development and implementation of both Mineral Resources and Site based safety programs. Safety is at the forefront of all that we do. The work of this person enables Mineral Resources to be recognized as one of the great Australian companies and a leading provider of innovative and sustainable mining services.

You will have a strong safety ethic that includes resilience, learning, collegiality and extroversion. As a safety leader you will possess key leadership best practices that include credibility, action orientated and feedback and recognition. You will possess a transformational style of leadership where you will challenge current paradigms, engage leaders, inspire great safety performance in the setting of high standards and influence decision making where the only way of doing things is the safest way.

The primary responsibilities are to ensure the company is compliant with all legislative requirements and play a coaching and mentoring role to all personnel to instil active and strong safety culture

Reporting to the General Manager – Yilgarn Operations, you will play a pivotal role in the development and implementation of Health and Safety systems and procedures, implementing our critical risk management programme and providing solutions to reduce exposure to our people


What we’re after

We’re looking for someone who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and enjoys a challenging yet rewarding work environment. You will be responsible for;

  • Managing and conducting incident investigations and risk assessments
  • Conduct workplace inspections and audits with a strong focus on coaching
  • Manage the day to day safety activities on site and provide advice to the operations team.

What you’ll bring to our team

  • Diploma in Health and Safety
  • At least 10+ years in a safety leadership role in a mining environment
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in mining operations
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of WA Mines Safety & Inspection Act
  • Experience leading, coaching and conducting incident investigations
  • Above all an outstanding attitude and culture of care and professionalism
