Crushing Services International (CSI), a subsidiary of MRL, is a leading contract crushing provider tailoring world-class build-own-operate crushing, screening and processing plants for major mining clients.  This includes designing and manufacturing of major mineral processing facilities, ensuring commissioning and providing on-site operation and maintenance.

CSI's focus, experience, and specialisation provide an economical and high value alternative to in-house crushing and processing production by the client. Success of the CSI business model is reflected in its customer base, consisting of the major blue-chip mining houses that would traditionally undertake these operations themselves.

 

About the role

This role will report to the Engineering Manager of MRL’s Crushing business and will be responsible for the design and drafting checking across our operations and client sites.

Further responsibilities will include:

  • Check drawings (form, fit, and function) rigorously against all applicable standards, specifications, and policies for completeness, clarity, and dimensional accuracy; perform tolerance analysis and stack-ups; Provide feedback and recommendations of drawing and design improvements.
  • Interrogate assemblies/models validating design layouts and drawing documentation using CAD systems in adherence to AS/ CSI drafting standards, CAD modelling practices, specifications, and program requirements and standards.
  • Marking of engineering drawing defects and communicating to designers as well as suggesting methods of improvement.
  • Facilitate in providing innovative conceptual engineering design and development designs/proposals.
  • Assist in the design of equipment, assemblies, facilities, utilities, and systems by interpreting and translating design concepts and layouts for the solution of complex and variable technical problems.
  • Maintain and develop professional relationships with fellow staff and management to ensure timely, cost effective execution of supportive drafting checking and designing
  • Provide guidance to Designers and Drafters through the various phases of the design development process as required.
  • Perform all functions associated with the drawing checking process which includes but is not limited to completeness, clarity, dimensional accuracy, simplicity in design and efficiency.
  • Marking of engineering drawing defects and communicating to designers as well as suggesting methods of improvement.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and manufacturing processes and capabilities in mining projects.
  • Ability to communicate design, drafting and modelling methods to instruct and mentor.

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • Knowledge of Civil, structure, mechanical, piping  manufactured part fabrication
  • 10+ years design experience on $50M+ large scale mining construction projects
  • Previous experience with mechanical/structural/civil/concrete design projects
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Advance Steel, Prosteel and Navisworks. Experience in 12D and/or Civil 3D programs will also be seen as favourable;
