The Opportunity

Reporting to the GM Water, Tailings & Geotechnical, the Senior Manager Projects - Water, Geotechnical and Tailings will lead the strategic and technical oversight of tailings and geotechnical systems, including TSF design, operation, and governance, while supporting Greenfields water planning and ensuring compliance with ANCOLD and GISTM standards.

Key responsibilities;

• Oversee the full lifecycle of TSFs and geotechnical structures, ensuring alignment with ANCOLD and GISTM standards.
• Lead risk assessments, design reviews, and implementation of dam safety programs to ensure facility integrity.
• Manage instrumentation, data analysis, and digital systems for proactive performance evaluation and anomaly detection.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory frameworks, support audits, inspections, and incident response for Geotech-related events.
• Collaborate across disciplines to embed geotechnical and tailings considerations into planning and permitting.
• Build and lead a high-performing team, promoting a culture of technical excellence and accountability.
• Drive professional growth, succession planning, and technical training across the geotechnical function.

What is required

• Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical, Geology, Civil or Mining Engineering or related field
• Extensive experience in technical and operational mining or related sectors, including experience in senior geotechnical or tailings leadership roles
• Demonstrated expertise in tailings dam lifecycle management and geotechnical risk mitigation
• In-depth knowledge of ANCOLD, GISTM and relevant regional legislation
• Experience working with independent review boards and managing regulatory interfaces
