About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Injury Management Advisor to join our multidisciplinary team, responsible for the leadership and execution of MRL’s injury management & Worker’s Compensation (IM & WC) portfolio.

The role ensures fit for purpose IM & WC initiatives aligned with the MinRes Occupational Health framework. The position will manage, coordinate, and support injured workers, delivery improvement initiatives aligned with building leadership capability and worker accountability, and forms a key requirement of MinRes meeting its targeted and improved health performance.

It monitors the external environment for developments in regulatory and industry trends, monitors WC premiums and medical liability costs. The position will apply international best practices and implement an integrated and comprehensive approach to employee health management  

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver evidence-based injury management, early intervention, and return-to-work programmes for employees following workplace injuries or illnesses
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, healthcare providers, insurers, and regulatory bodies
  • Coordinate and monitor workers’ compensation claims, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation/s
  • Develop and implement rehabilitation and return-to-work plans in a timely and supportive manner
  • Support site leaders by providing expert advice on injury prevention, early intervention, and claims management
  • Maintain accurate case management records and prepare required reports
  • Participate in improvement programs in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders to improve the IM & WC services.
  • Ensure knowledge of contemporary occupational / industrial health issues are maintained 
  • Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation.
  • Meet all internal and external reporting obligations for injury and illness management

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Health/Science/Biomedical/Allied Health/equivalent
  • Minimum three years’ experience in injury management, workers’ compensation, or rehabilitation – preferably within the resources of heavy industry sections
  • Sound understanding of the Workers Compensation & Injury Management Act 2023, including return to work legislation
  • Full unrestricted AHPRA registration (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) or other relevant governing body
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple cases with empathy, discretion, and attention to detail
  • Excellent leadership, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisation and record keeping skills
  • Proficient with digital health systems
  • Extensive knowledge of clinical governance, safety and quality requirements
  • Knowledge of Quality Improvement / Accreditation systems as applied to industrial and high-risk settings.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, industrial agreements, standards, codes, ethics and competency standards.
  • Current and valid driver’s license
