About the role

With an exciting opportunity to oversee the establishment of our new Health Centre, this role is truly unique. Our Health Centre will include pre-employment medical screening facilities & a brand new gym. 

You'll be responsible for the strategic Health Services Plan, encompassing annual strategic initiatives, and forecasting longer-term strategic initiatives, programs, and planning for the improvement of MRL’s Health approach. You will be a key support in Health Management, encompassing fitness for work, management of pre-employment medical screening, and return to work processes. The Health & Wellbeing Manager will also be responsible for management of the MRL worker's compensation portfolio. 

You’ll work collaboratively with site teams, management and safety personnel, to develop and implement strategies and measures for the promotion of healthy lifestyle choices, prevention and coordination of employee injury and illness and improved safety performance.

This role will be based in our Applecross office with a relocation to our brand new facility in Osborne Park in 2022. There may be an element of site travel required on an ad hoc basis.

Key deliverables & the type of person we are seeking

  • Responsible for the strategic Health Services Plan, encompassing annual strategic initiatives, and forecasting longer-term strategic initiatives, programs, and planning for the improvement of MRL’s Health approach
  • Key functional support in the promotion of Health Awareness, including mental health and wellness initiatives and programs for all MRL staff
  • Management of the MRL workers’ compensation portfolio, including insurer liaison, broker support, Policy reviews, case management and improvement
  • Key strategic support in Health Management, encompassing fitness for work, management of pre-employment medical screening, and return to work processes
  • Lead, mentor, and coach the Health Services team, but also extend this to the wider functional and operational teams alike
  • Support service for the MRL Health & Safety Management System and its direct alignment to the MRL Safety Framework
  • Management of MRL’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Management of the MRL workers’ compensation portfolio, including insurer liaison, broker support, Policy reviews, case management and improvement

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant allied health discipline 
  • Demonstrated experience working within a strategic planning space in Health services & experience in the establishment of mental health, general health & wellbeing initiatives/programs 
  • The ability to consult, communicate and provide support & guidance on Health strategies & initiatives to all operational levels in the business 
  • Injury management/claims management experience 
  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office applications 
  • Use of safety-based data systems (Injury Management registers etc.)
