About the role

We are currently looking for a self-motivated Mine Planning Engineer responsible for process, capability and technical support to short/medium term planning interfaces and related activities across all of MRL’s operating sites. Reporting to the Senior Mine Planning Engineer, your primary purpose will be to create value by:

  • Effectively communicating alignment of mine plans between various site based and Perth based teams across different planning horizons;
  • Working with and enabling site based technical services teams to develop best practices;
  • Building strong relationships with co-workers at all levels of the business.
  • Pursuing options founded through your natural curiosity;
  • Ensuring your plans are executed via the many relationships you will build.

Based in our Head Office with an expectation to undertake ad-hoc site visits as required, you will have the opportunity to work across both Lithium and Iron Ore commodities with involvement in projects at all stages from pre-feasibility, to operational readiness and approvals, to operating sites and into closure and rehabilitation.

  • Reviewing and communicating operating schedules, plans and designs
  • Ensuring site planning aligns with the overarching objectives of our long term strategies
  • Undertaking scenario and project analysis to support plan development and contribute to understanding and management of site value drivers
  • Liaising with the site mining and technical services teams to ensure production and quality conforms with overall plan and strategy
  • Implementing and developing continuous improvement initiatives to improve performance and efficiencies
  • Assisting in the role out and successful implementation of new technologies and software across the business. 

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in mine design, planning and scheduling in a mining environment
  • Experienced with mine planning and design software packages (Surpac, XACT, and Alastri Products experience highly regarded)
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of mine safety procedures and regulations
  • Experience is a production analysis and improvement role highly regarded but not essential
