The Opportunity

The Principal Hydrogeology Operations will lead the planning and execution of Water, Geotechnical, and Tailings programs. In this pivotal role, you'll ensure the safe, compliant, and cost-effective delivery of operations while managing contractor onboarding, scheduling, budgeting, and performance tracking. Your strategic oversight will maintain alignment across internal teams and external partners, ensuring regulatory compliance and optimising resource deployment.

Reporting to the Manager Contracts & Logistics Support, you be based at HQ office and occasional oversee projects onsite as required by the business.

Your primary responsibilities:

  • Translate technical scopes from Water, Geotechnical, and Tailings teams into executable work programs. Identify and engage suitable contractors to deliver works safely, efficiently, and in line with MinRes schedules
  • Coordinate with Contracts, Drilling, Procurement, Safety, and Admin teams to ensure contractors are onboarded through appropriate fiscal, safety, and compliance processes.
  • Develop and manage budgets, track expenditures, and ensure cost-effective delivery of allocated scopes. Support quarterly reforecasts and annual budget planning.
  • Ensure all operational activities meet environmental, safety, and regulatory standards, including internal documentation and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain detailed drilling and operational schedules aligned with technical goals, rig availability, weather, and logistics. Optimise deployment of rigs, personnel, and equipment across sites.
  • Facilitate regular communication between internal teams and contractors to ensure alignment. Identify operational risks and implement contingency plans to minimise impact

What is required?

  • Tertiary qualifications preferably project management, logistics and/ or technical related to Hydrogeology environments
  • Extensive experience in mining / drilling / resources sector, with significant exposure to drilling operations.
  • ​​Experience managing competing priorities in a fast paced environment, including conflict resolution  
  • ​Ability to communicate effectively and constructively with senior business leaders and other technical stakeholders.  
  • ​Demonstrated ability to work within large multi-disciplinary teams and strong stakeholder engagement ability. ​ 
  • Current WA drivers licence
