The Role

We're seeking a talented Principal Mine Improvement Engineer to lead & support our team of Proficiency Trainers & Project Engineers in delivering mine optimisation & improvements.

Whilst experience with open cut mining is highly desirable, we’re open to accepting applications from those in other industries with significant experience in successfully delivering improvement projects.

This role is currently based in our Applecross Head Office & will relocate to our brand-new facility in Osborne Park in 2022. Occasional site travel will be required (generally 1 week per month) across MRL sites.  

You'll be responsible for

  • Leading the Mine Optimisation function including operator proficiency advisors and FMS implementation support
  • Identifying and managing a small portfolio of targeted improvement projects across MRL’s mining operations, ensuring the highest value projects are prioritised
  • Maintaining a database of Mobile Fleet productivity data and providing reports and gap analysis as required
  • Supporting the EGM Mining, Operations Managers and site teams in the execution of cost, quality and productivity initiatives
  • Maintaining production reporting systems
  • Supporting technology projects

What you will bring to the team

  • Tertiary qualification in geoscience, engineering, business or similar
  • Demonstrated experience in structured improvement methodology along with an understand of project management principles  
  • The ability to manage change where multiple stakeholder groups are impacted
  • Developed organisational skills with the ability to manage a diverse range of activity
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels
  • A natural curiosity and self-motivation to reach into all areas of the mining operations to improve margins.
