About the role

Located at our brand new, world class corporate offices in Osborne Park. This is a newly created opportunity to specifically work closely with our iron ore operations on several of our owner/operator sites.

Reporting to the Mine Planning Manager, the Rehabilitation and Closures Engineer is responsible for design, project coordination and compliance oversight related to mining approvals, ongoing rehabilitation and mine closure activities across all of Mineral Resources Limited (MRL) iron ore operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently work with the Environmental Compliance and Closure teams to understand and keep abreast of rehabilitation and closure requirements across all MRLs sites
  • Estimate, scope, and contribute to cost modelling of required rehabilitation
  • Update and maintain closure and rehabilitation as built designs for input into closure liability estimates
  • Liaise with the site mining team and technical services team to deliver positive business outcomes
  • Implement and develop continuous improvement initiatives to improve performance and efficiencies relating to both data management and execution;
  • Producing, reviewing and communicating approvals, rehabilitation and closure related designs and scopes of work

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Demonstrated experience in mine closure design, scheduling and compliance in a mining environment;
  • Demonstrated experience in providing inputs into mine closure plans and closure liability estimate;
  • Working knowledge of Environmental Legislation relevant to the Mining Industry;
  • Experienced with mine planning and design software packages (Surpac and Datamine experience highly regarded);
  • Strong experience in soils, waste characterisation and landform evolution (highly desirable)
