The opportunity 

The Senior Environmental Advisor role will be responsible for driving excellence in environmental management across our Central Pilbara operations. In this dynamic role, you will oversee all aspects of environmental management across various environmental regulatory approvals and multiple MinRes projects. 

You will report directly to the Principal Environmental Compliance and will be given autonomy to drive change while being supported as part of a dedicated and high performing team.  The environment function fosters a collaborative environment, promoting professional growth with development opportunities across a wide range of functions and commodity streams.  

Your primary responsibilities: 

  • Provide front line support, facilitate training and continual improvement for environmental management applications 
  • Provide incident investigation and management support to site teams.  
  • Provide expert advice to the business on legal obligations and environmental management. 
  • Support the development and deployment environmental management software applications to improve environmental obligation and data management processes across the business.  
  • Facilitate the collection, recording, analysis and effective communication of environmental data to support internal and external reporting and decision making. 
  • Assist in writing regulatory environmental reports, EMS documents and training material to support the business. 

What is required 

  • ​​Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Science and / or Environmental Management​. 
  • ​​Strong experience as an Environmental specialist within the mining industry, consulting or government. 
  • ​Willingness to travel to the sites in the Pilbara for short periods  
  • ​Proven ability to distil complex regulatory requirements into practical operational guidance  
  • ​Demonstrated experience providing strategic and operational environmental advice to both technical and non-technical stakeholders  
  • ​Proactive approach to managing and streamlining environmental management systems, monitoring and compliance. 
  • ​Strong computer skills, with exposure to ArcGIS or similar mapping software highly desirable. 
  • ​Ability to collaborate and influence with multiple stakeholders.
