Senior HSEQ Coordinator

Central Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of publicly listed Resource Development Group Limited (RDG), is a leading Western Australian based multi-disciplined mining services contractor providing a complete suite of construction and upgrade services to the resource industry including Civil, Concrete, Mechanical, Structural and Piping (SMP) and non-process building infrastructure works. With an impressive track record boasting some of Western Australia's most recognised major resource projects throughout Australia. RDG has recently taken ownership of manganese (Concen) and garnet (Australian Garnet) tenements and in the process of developing these prospects into owning our own operating mines, providing RDG to be a mine owner and a mining services contractor. This role will be working across all companies, providing an excellent opportunity for variety in your role.      

Central Systems is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior HSEQ Coordinator to join the management team located in our Osborne Park office, with regular time spent on our various sites. As well as site visits, you'll provide leave coverage onsite when required. Generally you'll spend 1 week per month onsite. 

This role is responsible for the management and practical aspects of all Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality and Assurance systems across the companies, reporting to the Directors.

This is a key leadership and business critical role, responsible for the management and practical aspects of our safety and quality management systems; supporting our operational teams to ensure the highest standards of safety performance and regulatory compliance are achieved, to meet our company goal of “zero” injuries and incidents throughout the business.

Your primary accountabilities will include:

  • Provide expertise, knowledge, capability and drive to enable the on-going compliance and continual improvement of the company management system including quality, safety and environmental management in the context of the IMS
  • Conduct audits to maintain certification to AS 4801, IOS 9001 and ISO 14001, ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and provide support to site HSE Advisors demonstrating excellent leadership skills
  • Analyse safety problems and recommend solutions to appropriate manager
  • Lead the investigation of any incidents and unsafe working conditions, including reporting of identified hazards and appropriate risk control measures.
  • Review regularly, maintain, update and improve integrated management system
  • Develop site-specific project plans in close consultation with relevant supervisors and management
  • Create, evaluate and administer safety programs for all employees and conduct regular audits (office and project sites) for the implementation of quality and HSE compliance.
  • Implement and maintain continuous improvement initiatives and risk management reviews
  • Prepare and maintain reports and documentation concerning the aspects of the IMS
  • Review staff and contractor compliance, documents and reporting

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience within construction related industries 
  • Minimum Certificate 5 in WHS or equivalent (additional qualification in Environmental or Quality Management highly desirable)
  • Experience in maintaining Quality, Safety and Environmental Management systems compliance to ISO 9001, ASNZ 4801 and ISO 14001
  • Knowledge of respective ISO Quality & Environment standards and AS/NZS workplace health & safety standards.  
  • Understanding of applicable legislative, regulatory requirements and standards relevant to the construction industry
  • Strong ability in effective communication and liaising with internal and external stakeholders
  • Passion and enthusiasm in driving strong safety culture and team oriented, accountable and results driven
  • Experience conducting operational safety audits, accident investigations and processing / reviewing hazard reports
  • A proactive approach coupled to self-motivation, reliability and strong communication skills
