The Opportunity
As the Laboratory Supervisor, your role expands beyond routine plant and pit sample preparation and analysis. You will manage the safe usage and routine upkeep of all related laboratory equipment. As part of your leadership responsibilities, you will guide and oversee a team of Lab Technicians, instilling a robust culture centred around safety and continuous improvement on current operational processes.
Your Primary Responsibilities:
- Update the sample tracker and ensure the live version is transparent to all stakeholders
- Carry out performance checks: crusher sizing, mill sizing, and RSD balance checks, with all results recorded
- Troubleshoot equipment faults and liaise with contractors to carry out maintenance, supervising when contractors are onsite
- Conduct thorough QA/QC to cover all laboratory operations
- Ensure all data associated with these GIOPS is recorded daily
- Prepare end-of-month (EOM) reports
- Develop, review, and document all laboratory procedures
- Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify hazards and implement effective controls
- Undertake all relevant tasks regarding the collection, preparation, and analysis of pit and plant samples
- Develop, train, and mentor Lab Technicians to ensure a capable, competent, and agile team
- Carry out any other ad hoc projects as required by management
Your Experience and Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and highly motivated
- Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques
- Radiation Safety Officer Licence (desirable)
- Current and valid WA Driver’s licence - C-Class manual
- Demonstrated skills in leading and mentoring technical personnel
- Demonstrated experience in a Laboratory environment
- Familiar with LIMS CCLAS, sample preparation and XRF analysis
