As an apprentice, you'll spend your first two years in our Kwinana Workshop adapting to 12 hour days and honing your skills. In your 3rd and 4th year you'll be deployed to site and begin the FIFO part of your career.

Heavy Diesel Fitter (Mobile Plant Mechanic)

As a Heavy Diesel fitter, you'll be working on the mechanical systems of huge mining equipment weighing over 300 tonnes. Your tasks would include servicing and repairing the engines and dealing with the transmission, electric control systems, final drive, steering, hydraulic and braking systems on equipment such as haul trucks, loaders, dozers, and excavators.

On completion, you'll receive a Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology and a trade certificate.

Automotive Electrician

As an Auto Electrician, you'll diagnose and repair electrical wiring and computer-based equipment in small and large mining vehicles. This includes working on starter motors, ignition switches, alternators, drive motors, batteries, lights and warning systems.

On completion, you'll receive a Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology and a trade certificate.

Boilermakers

As an apprentice Boilermaker, you'll complete tests and repairs, fabricate parts and overhaul heavy mining equipment. On the job you'll learn how metals react to different treatments and how to maintain integrity when applying treatments. If you're part of the AMG team, you'll work on mobile mining equipment (haul trucks, excavators, dozers etc.) and if you're part of the CSI team, you'll work on fixed plant (crushers, screens etc.).

On completion, you'll receive a Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Boilermaking/Welding) and a trade certificate.

Electricians

As an apprentice electrician, you'll be responsible for installing and maintaining all of the electrical systems on our mine sites.

Being part of the CSI team, you'd be maintaining and repairing the fixed plant equipment. This can include the instrumentation that runs the plant and sets off alarms when problems occur.

On completion, you'll receive a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, a trade certificate and an electrical licence.

Mechanical Fitter

As an apprentice heavy mechanical fitter, you'll perform work on the pumps, hydraulic and pneumatic systems of the equipment that processes the mined material and produces our end product. You'll interpret and create technical drawings and fabricate and install parts to maintain our crusher plants.

Light Mechanical Fitters fabricate and install precision parts on the smaller more technical parts of our crusher plants like gearboxes.

On completion, you'll receive a Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Fitting) and a trade certificate.
