The opportunity
Our Mining Wear Parts team in Yatala are seeking an experienced Mechanical Draftsperson to join their team.

Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in the creation of high-quality technical drawings, reverse engineering of components, and the collection of critical engineering information, both in the workshop and on-site.

This is primarily an office-based role, however reasonable travel to MRL operations and client sites will be required from time to time to fulfil engineering project obligations.

The role is a permanent full-time position, based on a Monday to Friday work schedule in Yatala.

In this hands-on and varied role, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Creating detailed technical drawings using Inventor & AutoCAD
• Reverse engineering components using a range of measuring equipment, including 3D scanners and manual tooling
• Contributing to the design and development of parts, machines, structures, chutes, liners, Mn steel components, and more
• Performing quality control (QC) checks on parts and components as required
• Identifying improvements to engineering processes and products while maintaining a strong safety focus
• Following strict drafting systems and protocols to ensure consistency and compliance
• Travelling to client sites and MRL operations as required to support engineering projects
• Collaborating with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to deliver exceptional engineering outcomes

What is Required?
Our ideal candidate will have previous demonstrated experience in a similar role, ideally within a Mining environment.

Essential Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years' proven experience in a drafting and engineering role within the Mining, Quarrying, or Recycling industries
• Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
• Solid understanding of mining equipment and engineering principles
• Exceptional eye for detail with a commitment to producing 100% accurate, error-free drawings
• Strong organisational and time management skills — ability to prioritise and manage multiple engineering projects efficiently
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• A genuine commitment to workplace safety at all times

Desirable requirements:

• Experience with 3D scanning and reverse engineering techniques
• Current and valid Australian driver's licence
• Knowledge of MRL systems, processes, and safety frameworks
