The Opportunity

Our Onslow Site is seeking a Communication Technician to join our IT Infrastructure team. These pivotal roles provide support and configuration for critical systems across the operation.

The Communications Technician will play an integral part assisting in the commissioning and start-up of new installations for Onslow, Haul Road and Kens Bore site operations our site operations. They will contribute collaboratively with both supervisors and vendors to innovate solutions and resolve complex communications problems.

This position reports directly to our Team Lead and is based at our Onslow site on an 8D6X 7N7X roster. This role presents an excellent opportunity to expand your specialized skillset across our innovative solutions and to enhance career progression.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain and repair telecommunication and electronic equipment in accordance with predefined work programs
• Read schematics, assembly drawings, data sheets and work instructions to perform product assembly and testing
• Ensure maintenance and installation tasks comply to standard
• Assist in failure analysis, troubleshooting, rework/repair of non-conforming manufactured product to determine root cause
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, participating actively in Agile Scrum processes
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, providing innovative solutions
• Deliver solution enhancements whilst resolving complex communication problems

What is Required:

• Trade Qualified or suitable experience or interest in Technology (eg electronics, radio, networking)
• Strong experience in communication/Cat6A structured cabling with endorsements
• Understanding and experience in DC power systems ranging from 12v-56v
• Experience in WLAN/LAN networking installation and fault-finding, including Fiber Optics.
• ACMA Open Cable Registration
• Working at Heights certificate
• Elevated Work Platform License
• Current full Manual C Class Driver’s License
• Previous FIFO experiences is desirable
• Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for technology.
• Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities.
