The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Solution Architect to join our Digital Technology Services (DTS) Project Delivery Team. In this critical role, you will design, develop and oversee the implementation of technology solutions supporting the organisation’s operational, corporate, and infrastructure requirements. The emphasis will be on building operational solutions and systems within a mining context, while also contributing to the design of corporate business, industrial systems and infrastructure as required. You’ll serve as the link between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams, ensuring that all solutions are fit-for-purpose, scalable, secure, and adhere to enterprise architecture standards.
Monday to Friday work schedule.
Key responsibilities
- Lead design of end-to-end technology solutions for operational mining systems, including Fleet Management Systems, Mine Planning and Scheduling, Production Reporting, Data Historians, Asset Health Monitoring, Autonomous Systems integration.
- Develop solution architectures for corporate systems and infrastructure platforms (cloud, networking, identity management).
- Create comprehensive architectural artefacts (solution designs, integration patterns, data flows, technical specs).
- Ensure solutions comply with enterprise architecture frameworks, security standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to analyse requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Present recommendations to project steering committees and executive leadership.
- Mentor developers and junior architects; liaise with vendors and integrators.
- Contribute to architectural standards and participate in architecture review boards.
- Support project managers on delivery plans, estimates, and risks.
- Provide technical leadership during execution and support post-implementation reviews.
About you
Our ideal candidate will have previous demonstrated experience in a similar role, ideally within the mining industry.
Essential requirements:
- Extensive experience in solution/enterprise architecture or senior technical design roles.
- Experience delivering solutions across operational systems, corporate applications, infrastructure/platform services.
- Previous experience implementing OT solutions in mining, resources, or heavy industry (OT/IT integration, real-time data, SCADA, historian platforms, mine site tech).
- Proven track record in project environments with complex, multi-system solutions.
- Familiarity with TOGAF, Zachman frameworks and architecture governance.
- Technical expertise in integration patterns, middleware, cloud, analytics, cyber security, and network architecture for distributed environments.
- Experience with mining industry software (MineStar, Modular, Deswik, OSIsoft PI, Wenco, GEOVIA).
- Tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Current Australian driver’s licence and ability to travel to remote sites.
Desirable:
- TOGAF 9 or equivalent credential.
- Architecture modelling (ArchiMate, Archi, Orbus Infinity).
- Experience with vendors/platforms for mining operational systems.
- Knowledge of automation/autonomous mining technologies.
- Agile or hybrid delivery methodologies, and relevant vendor certifications (Microsoft, AWS, OSIsoft).
