The Opportunity

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you’ll take ownership of the Asset Management division’s capital expenditure, fixed assets and HP lease accounting – managing a high-volume, complex asset register and playing a key role in the quality and integrity of financial reporting.

This is a full-time, permanent role based at our Head Office in Osborne Park.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capex: review capex requests, track capex spend, prepare the monthly rolling forecast and annual budget, reconcile the WIP balance sheet account
  • Fixed assets: maintain the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals and depreciation across a high-volume portfolio, ensuring depreciation methods are appropriate and in line with MinRes policy
  • HP leases: maintain the lease register, including creation and retirement of leases as required, run monthly lease journals, reconcile lease balances, prepare rolling forecast and annual budget for leases including interest
  • Collaborate with operational finance, corporate finance and operations
  • Support audit processes including preparation of workpapers
  • Keep the Financial Controller informed and escalate issues proactively 

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or similar
  • CA/CPA membership (or nearing completion with strong demonstrated experience)
  • Minimum 3 years experience in financial accounting or audit
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Power Query for handling large datasets
  • Solid understanding of fixed asset accounting, lease accounting, capex management and impact of these on the wider business
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and ability to practically apply to MinRes
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment. 
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. 
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills across all levels of the business. 
  • Driven to continuously improve processes – identify non value-add processes/transactions, plan and assist with change management
