The Opportunity
Based at our Wodgina site, the Permit Coordinator SME is the senior work control authority on site — a critical leadership role responsible for the governance, oversight, and continuous improvement of our site work authorisation framework, including full ownership of the site Isolation Matrix.

This is not just a coordination role. You will be the principal approver and escalation point for complex, high-risk, and multi-discipline work packages, leading our permit function through day-to-day operations, major shutdowns, maintenance campaigns, and project activities.

This role is permanent full-time on an 8D 6RR roster. 

Key responsibilities:

• Holding senior authority within the site work authorisation framework, acting as the primary escalation point for complex and high-risk work scopes
• Overseeing daily coordination of all active work authorisations site-wide, eliminating conflicts, overlaps, and SIMOPS risks
• Owning, maintaining, and continuously improving the site Isolation Matrix
• Reviewing and endorsing high-complexity permits including confined space entry, hot work, line breaking, electrical isolations, work at height, excavation, and radiation-related activities
• Leading SIMOPS planning to identify and resolve conflicting work activities
• Conducting field verification to ensure work is executed in accordance with approved conditions and isolation requirements
• Mentoring and developing Permit Officers/Operators, driving consistency across all shifts and work fronts
• Holding the authority to stop or suspend work where safety conditions are not met

What you’ll bring
Our ideal candidate will have previous demonstrated experience in a similar role, ideally within the mining industry.

Qualifications

• Level 5 process operator qualification or above
• Demonstrated competency in group isolations, complex permit management, and isolation matrix administration
• Formal WHS qualifications (desirable)
• Statutory Supervisor certification or equivalent (highly desirable)

Experience

• Significant experience in lithium or similar mineral processing industries (lithium strongly preferred)
• Proven senior-level experience in high-risk work control, plant isolations, and operational safety
• Experience leading permit functions during major shutdowns and maintenance campaigns
• Background in mentoring and supervising Permit Officers/Operators or work control personnel
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Experience with CMMS platforms such as SAP, Maximo, or equivalent (highly desirable)
• Previous experience in radiation compliance management Position
