In this versatile role, you will contribute to key areas including data management, geological modelling and interpretation, reconciliation, and operational support. Drawing on your strong understanding of the mine value chain, you will bring both technical depth and practical insight to support multiple teams and help drive improved outcomes across the business.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in lifting geological standards, implementing robust systems and work processes, and supporting continuous improvement across the geology function.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide broad technical support across geology teams, including data management, modelling, interpretation, reconciliation and operational geology.
- Improve geological systems, workflows and processes to enhance efficiency, consistency and data integrity.
- Lead the review and improvement of geological database systems, including platform performance, gaps, vendor engagement and potential system transition.
- Apply mine value chain knowledge to support resource definition, grade control and reconciliation outcomes.
- Maintain high standards of geological data quality, model integrity and reporting compliance.
- Support reconciliation activities and communicate key variance drivers between models, mine plans and production results.
- Provide technical guidance to operational geology teams and support alignment with mining requirements.
- Contribute to technical reviews, audits and evaluations with a practical, cross-functional approach.
- Identify, standardise and implement improvements to geological practices across teams.
- Communicate geological findings, risks and opportunities clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support ongoing alignment with safety, environmental and sustainability standards.
What is required?
- Tertiary degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in geology within the mining and resources industry.
- Technical experience across two or more areas, including geological data management, databases, modelling, interpretation, reconciliation or operational geology.
- Experience supporting or leading database upgrades, redesigns or platform migrations, including requirements gathering, vendor evaluation and change management, is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience implementing or improving geological systems and work processes.
- A sound understanding of the mine value chain, from exploration and resource definition through to mine planning and production.
- Proficiency in geological modelling, database, and/or mine planning software relevant to the role. Familiarity with recognised reporting standards (e.g., JORC Code) desirable.
