The Opportunity
Based at our Wodgina Lithium Operation, we are seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to establish and embed the Reliability Engineering function for the fixed plant, implementing structured processes and systems to maximise asset performance and availability.
Reporting to the Planning Superintendent, you will design, optimise, and manage a site‑wide reliability framework, lead defect elimination initiatives, and drive condition‑based maintenance strategies across critical assets. You will partner closely with maintenance, operations, OEMs, and service providers to deliver targeted improvements in plant reliability and performance.
This position commences on an 8D6X roster flying from Perth.
Key Duties:
- Develop and implement the site Reliability Engineering framework, including standards, processes, criticality assessments, and a multi‑year maturity roadmap
- Conduct asset criticality ranking to inform maintenance strategies, condition monitoring, and spares holdings
- Establish and manage the Condition Monitoring program – vibration, oil/particle analysis, thermography, ultrasonic inspection – translating findings into actionable recommendations
- Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations, ensuring corrective actions are tracked to closure and shared with the team
- Perform Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) on critical assets to optimise strategies
- Analyse CMMS (Pronto) work order and failure data to identify bad actors, trends, and cost drivers; lead targeted defect elimination programs
- Build and maintain equipment hierarchy, failure mode library, and reliability data routines in Pronto for KPI reporting and continuous improvement
- Develop and report reliability KPIs (MTBF, MTTR, availability, compliance) with regular updates to site leadership
- Partner with OEMs on warranty and improvement recommendations; contribute reliability deliverables to shutdown planning
Your Experience:
- Relevant Tertiary qualifications in Reliability or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Root Cause Analysis certification essential
- Proven experience applying reliability frameworks (RCM, FMEA/FMECA, RCFA, criticality assessment, PM optimisation) in a processing plant environment
- Proficiency in Condition Monitoring techniques and tools (Level I/II vibration analysis, oil/particle analysis, thermography, ultrasonic inspection)
- Skilled in CMMS systems (Pronto) – hierarchy management, failure coding, PM scheduling, work order analysis
- Strong analytical and statistical skills for failure trend analysis and reporting
- Excellent technical writing and documentation skills – procedures, RCFA reports, standards
- Broad knowledge of processing equipment operations and maintenance and a strong understanding of asset management principles, Australian Standards, and legislative obligations
- Strong collaborative communication and skills, with a high safety awareness and ability to work in challenging environments
