The Opportunity
As the Senior Underground Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a key technical role in supporting the onsite restart and ramp-up of the underground mine at the Mount Marion Operation. You will help guide the project through to steady-state production.
Reporting to the Underground Superintendent, you will help deliver a safe, stable and productive underground operation through sound geotechnical practice. You will work closely with operations, underground geologists, contracting partners and the Perth-based Principal Geotechnical Engineer. Together you will implement geotechnical management plans, monitor ground performance and keep mine infrastructure safe.
This position will commence on an 8D6X roster, FIFO from Perth.
Key responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with the Underground Superintendent, operations teams. and contractors to ensure plans are practical, safe and executable.
- Implement the geotechnical management plans and adhere to them.
- Complete inspections and ensure the safety of mine infrastructure, while Ensuring policies, procedures and standards are adhered to.
- Monitor the geotechnical QA/QC systems for non-compliance and rectify any issues.
- Complete stope notes and geotechnical reconciliations.
- Monitor the seismic and deformation monitoring systems when in place.
- Produce monthly geotechnical reports.
What is required?
- Tertiary qualification in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or equivalent
- Strong underground geotechnical engineering experience, ideally in large-scale mechanised long-hole stoping with pastefill operations
- Experience supporting underground project ramp-up, operational readiness or transition into steady-state production
- Working knowledge of ground support design, stope stability assessment, seismic and deformation monitoring, and geotechnical QA/QC
- Experience working with and overseeing contractors on geotechnical compliance
- Proficiency in the geotechnical and mining software listed below
- Growth mindset with strong communication, problem-solving and relationship-building skills

Mt Marion is located 40 km south-west of Kalgoorlie in the Goldfields region of Western Australia. MinRes manages all mining activities at Mt Marion, including a spodumene concentrate processing plant with an annual production capacity of 600,000 tonnes (SC6 equivalent).
