The Opportunity

The Senior Water Engineer – Systems Design & Delivery will play a crucial role in delivering high‑quality engineering designs for water infrastructure systems across all MinRes hubs – Onslow, Central Pilbara, and Lithium.

Reporting to the Principal Water Engineer – Systems Design & Execution, you will focus on the design of pumping systems, pipelines, borefields, and water treatment facilities, while supporting control system integration. Your designs will underpin water supply from source to operation, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and compliance with MinRes engineering standards.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with hydrogeologists and surface water teams, translating water source planning into engineered solutions, and supporting project execution and commissioning.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop engineering designs for water infrastructure systems, including pipelines, pump stations, borefields, and storage facilities.
  • Produce and review specifications, schematic drawings, and technical documentation in line with company standards.
  • Apply hydraulic modelling tools such as WaterGEMS to optimise system performance and capacity.
  • Assist in the design of control and automation systems (SCADA, Miri) for efficient water system operation.
  • Support QA/QC reviews of detailed designs and execution work undertaken by the CSI team.
  • Provide engineering input during project commissioning, takeover, and handover stages.
  • Collaborate with hydrogeology teams to align engineering designs with water source availability and mine plan requirements.
  • Ensure designs meet regulatory, environmental, and operational requirements.
  • Support operational teams post‑handover with technical advice, optimisation recommendations, and troubleshooting.

What is required?

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil, Mechanical, or Water Engineering (or closely related discipline).
  • Significant experience in the design of mining or industrial water infrastructure systems.
  • Proven ability to use hydraulic modelling software (WaterGEMS experience highly regarded).
  • Familiarity with control/automation design for water systems (SCADA, Miri) highly regarded.
  • Strong understanding of pipelines, pumping systems, borefield supply, and water treatment technology.
  • Knowledge of QA/QC procedures for engineering design and execution projects.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical disciplines.
  • Current WA driver’s licence.
