 The Opportunity

MinRes is seeking an experienced Team Lead – Mining Operational Applications Support to lead a high‑performing team of Application Specialists responsible for the stability, performance and continuous improvement of MinRes’ Mining Operational Application Portfolio.

Reporting directly to the Manager – Application Support, this role sits at the intersection of technical leadership, subject matter expertise and stakeholder engagement — ensuring our mining operations are supported by reliable applications, robust governance and data‑driven insights.

You will act as the primary SME and vendor liaison for the mining operational application portfolio while building capability within your team, strengthening vendor partnerships and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor and develop Application Specialists, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
• Manage team workload, coverage and rostering to consistently meet service levels, acting as the primary escalation point for complex incidents and service requests
• Oversee day‑to‑day operational support for mining applications, analytics platforms, and underlying systems, ensuring compliance with company policies, cybersecurity standards, and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with project teams to transition solutions smoothly into steady‑state application support, maintaining up‑to‑date support documentation and knowledge base resources
• Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert for the Mining Operational Application Portfolio, providing guidance on capabilities, limitations, and best practices
• Build SME capability within the team, maintaining awareness of system changes, upgrades, and evolving operational needs, and developing strong relationships with commodity divisions
• Act as a trusted IT partner to the business, bridging operational requirements with technology solutions
• Manage vendor relationships, monitoring service delivery, coordinating escalations, overseeing performance reviews, and ensuring contractual obligations are met
• Identify and implement process optimisation, automation, and efficiency gains, providing technical oversight and governance for improvement initiatives
• Champion good data practices across systems, advocating for analytics in operational decision‑making, and contributing to ITIL‑aligned support frameworks

 What is Required:

• Tertiary qualifications in IT, Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
• Proven application support experience, with proven experience in a team lead, senior, or supervisory capacity
• Experience in mining industry technology and operational applications such as Datamine MineMarket, AVEVA Production Management (Ampla), Datamine CCLAS, GE Proficy Historian, Xecute, Kepware, and Wenco highly regarded
• Strong knowledge of SCADA, OPC‑DA/OPC‑UA, B2MML, Industry 4.0 concepts and AWS IoT Platform (IoT Core, Greengrass, IoT SiteWise)
• Proficiency in SQL and Python, with reporting and visualisation tools including Power BI, Tableau and Grafana
• Understanding of ITIL framework, change management, and service management principles
• Demonstrated vendor management and stakeholder engagement skills
• Strong problem‑solving ability under pressure, with excellent leadership and communication skills
• ITIL, AWS, or equivalent certifications are highly regarded
