The Opportunity

Reporting to the GM Water, Tailings & Geotechnical, the Senior Manager of Water will lead the strategic planning and oversight of groundwater and surface water systems across mining assets and projects, ensuring sustainable use, regulatory compliance, and environmental protection while supporting operational continuity and collaborating with multiple stakeholders.

Key responsibilities;

• Develop and implement integrated water management plans, collaborating across teams to balance water demand and support sustainability goals.
• Oversee groundwater investigations, hydrogeological modeling, and surface water system management, ensuring safe discharge and reuse.
• Lead design, development, and maintenance of water infrastructure, reviewing engineering and managing contractors.
• Ensure compliance with water licenses and environmental approvals, managing reporting and regulatory engagement.
• Assess and mitigate risks related to flooding, contamination, and infrastructure failures, supporting water quality control.
• Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary water management team.
• Foster collaboration with corporate, site-based technical, environmental, and operational teams.

What is required

• Bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Civil Engineering, Environmental or related field
• Extensive experience in water management in mining industry or regulators (or a combination)
• Proven experience in managing water related environmental and regulatory compliance programs
• Deep knowledge of hydrogeological and surface water modelling, water balance and infrastructure systems
• Familiarity with water related aspects of mine closure and rehabilitation planning
• Ability to interpret complex legislation and agreements, manage risk and assurance
