The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager – Category, this is a hands-on, high-impact role for a procurement professional who thrives in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment. You will own the full category management cycle — from market analysis and strategy development through to sourcing, negotiation, contract execution and supplier relationship management.

You'll be a trusted partner to the business, not just a procurement function — someone who takes the time to understand what our internal customers actually need, reads market conditions to keep MinRes ahead, and moves quickly to turn insight into action. If you're the type who sees risk before it arrives and opportunity before it's obvious, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute category strategies that reflect current market conditions and deliver measurable value across cost, risk and sustainability
  • Lead end-to-end sourcing activities — market analysis, tendering, supplier evaluation, negotiation and contract execution
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior internal stakeholders (including GMs and Executives), influencing outcomes through credibility and commercial insight rather than hierarchy
  • Analyse spend data, market trends and supply chain dynamics to inform strategy and anticipate risk
  • Identify and drive cost reduction, process improvement and supplier innovation opportunities across your categories
  • Manage contracts, supplier performance and commercial risk with rigour and pragmatism
  • Champion procurement best practice while adapting your approach to suit MinRes's agile, get-it-done culture
  • Embrace and actively utilise AI tools and technologies to drive efficiencies, streamline workflows and deliver smarter procurement outcomes

 What is required

  • Proven experience in strategic procurement and end-to-end category management
  • Contract management with experience in contract negotiations
  • Commercial acumen and the analytical rigour to turn data into decisions,
  • Experience navigating complex stakeholder environments and driving change across organisational boundaries
  • Familiarity with ERP and procurement systems, and confidence with digital tools and the MS suite
  • Background in IT/Technology or MRO categories is highly desirable but not necessary
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, commerce, law or a related discipline
