About the Opportunity:

A unique opportunity exists within our CSI safety team in a roving FIFO-based 8:6 roster role. This position supports MRL’s focus to provide a safe work environment by providing specialised service and advice to AMG employees and Management. Through the provision of all Workplace Health and Safety functions, including risk management, hazard, identification, workplace inspections, safety audits, mentoring and incident investigations. The position will provide support in a roving capacity over a number of different projects and locations

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice on all aspects of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS),
  • Build strong working relationships with site leadership, blue collar teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Support and improve safety systems, processes, and practices aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Monitor and interpret WHS legislation; respond to safety incidents as needed.
  • Investigate incidents, prepare detailed reports, and recommend improvements.
  • Conduct workplace inspections; identify and report hazards and unsafe conditions.
  • Manage moderately complex safety projects using sound judgement.
  • Prepare reports within required timeframes.
  • Mentor and coach staff to promote risk management processes.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of safety management systems.
  • Act professionally and maintain confidentiality in all dealings.
  • Carry out other duties as required, appropriate to your skills and training.
  • Conduct safety audits (onsite and desktop) to identify system improvements.
  • Review and update site safety procedures, plans, and risk documents.
  • Assist in implementing the corporate safety strategy.

What will you bring?

  • Tertiary and/or vocational qualifications in Work Health and Safety.
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Lead Auditor Qualification (Desirable)
  • ICAM or TAP Root Investigation Technique Qualification
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Previous experience as a Safety Advisor in a similar environment
  • Extensive experience in incident investigation techniques.
  • Knowledge of Risk Management and Loss Prevention techniques.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of safety management systems.
  • Experience in the practical application of safety in a heavy industrial/mining industry and/or workshop environment.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety and Safety and Workers' Compensation Legislation, Regulations, Standards and Codes of Practice.
  • Strong relationship building, influencing, negotiation and communication skills
