The Opportunity

The regional Lead Heritage position provides strategic leadership in embedding Aboriginal Cultural Heritage management throughout the MinRes mining lifecycle. In this influential role, you will oversee heritage approvals, field operations, compliance, and governance, delivering timely and informed advice to support operational decisions and safeguard cultural values. As the leader of our heritage field team, you will foster robust partnerships with Traditional Owners and Native Title Parties, manage compliance systems, and align heritage outcomes with business objectives. You will champion best practice approaches, ensuring all legal and agreement-based heritage obligations are met and upheld organisation-wide.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership for MinRes’ heritage management across all projects, operations, and exploration activities.
  • Establish and maintain robust cultural heritage management frameworks, ensuring alignment with legislation, regulatory obligations, and industry best practice.
  •  Oversee the planning and execution of heritage activities, including surveys, assessments, approvals, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Provide strong leadership and direction to the heritage team, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and heritage priorities.
  • Ensure organisational compliance with all legal, agreement, and reporting-based obligations.
  • Direct processes that safeguard heritage values during project planning, approvals, and operational delivery.
  • Lead incident management and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen heritage protection and governance.
  • Maintain oversight of heritage information systems, including geospatial data and heritage reports to ensure integrity, accessibility, and accuracy of information. Provide expert guidance and advice to senior leaders to support informed decision-making and risk management.
  • Promote and uphold safe working practices across all heritage-related activities

What is required?

  • Advanced degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Cultural Heritage Management, or related field (highly desirable)
  • Extensive experience specialising in cultural heritage management with a significant portion in mining/resources industry
  • Proven leadership experience ideally managing multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with Traditional Owners/Native Title Parties.
  • Strong track record of developing and implementing strategic heritage management plans to meet business objectives
  • Ability to communicate confidently, both in written and oral form, with strong cross-cultural communication skills, and ability to influence key internal and external stakeholders.
