The opportunity  

The Lead Heritage – Field oversees MinRes' Aboriginal cultural heritage field operations, ensuring consistent and best-practice outcomes across all projects and operational areas. Reporting to the Manager Heritage, this role develops and implements processes for safe and effective heritage survey delivery and on-ground compliance. You will drive leadership to Superintendent Heritage Field positions to optimise asset use, resource allocation, and team cohesion, and directly manages the Heritage Logistics Coordinator. The Lead Heritage – Field is also responsible for designing and delivering training programmes for MinRes employees and contractors, as well as building and executing safety and compliance management systems. 

Key responsibilities:  

  • Oversee the coordination of heritage field operations across all regions, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and compliance with governance frameworks and regulatory obligations. 
  • Collaborate with heritage leadership to align field activities with approvals processes, cultural heritage management plans, and compliance requirements. 
  • Establish and maintain effective systems for managing cultural materials in accordance with legislative, agreement, and Native Title Party obligations. 
  • Maintain oversight of heritage field resources and assets to ensure availability, suitability, and optimal utilisation across the portfolio. 
  • Provide expert input into Cultural Heritage Management Plans from an operational delivery perspective to ensure plans are practical, achievable, and compliant. 
  • Develop and implement long‑term field strategy, including workforce capability, resource planning, and technology integration, to enhance efficiency and heritage protection outcomes. 
  • Monitor and assess heritage field performance, fostering operational excellence, continuous improvement, and consistent standards across all projects. 

What is required?  

  • ​​​Advanced degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Cultural Heritage Management, or related field (highly desirable)  
  • Extensive experience specialising in cultural heritage management with a significant portion in mining/resources industry   
  • Strong heritage field operations experience, ideally in a leadership or coordination role across multiple geographic areas or projects 
  • Previous working knowledge of WA’s Aboriginal heritage legislation and agreement frameworks. 
  • Proven leadership experience ideally managing multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with Traditional Owners/Native Title Parties.   
  • Strong track record of developing and implementing strategic heritage management plans to meet business objectives  
  • Ability to communicate confidently, both in written and oral form, with strong cross-cultural communication skills, and ability to influence key internal and external stakeholders.
