The Opportunity
MinRes is seeking an experienced and driven Manager, Geology, Iron Ore Resource Development to join our Exploration & Geology Department within our greater Technical Services team in a critical leadership role.
This role is central to the data collection framework that underpins our Resource Models, which in turn, drive the strategic direction of the iron ore business. The role further plays a significant support function to the Iron Ore Competent Person to drive the orebody understanding, ensuring geological complexity is progressively de-risked and that every tonne of ore is optimised from resource development through to downstream processing.
Operating on a site-based roster supporting both West and Central Pilbara projects, this role offers the chance to shape the geological foundation of our iron ore near mine exploration and resource development.
Key responsibilities:
- Design and implement robust processes to de-risk geology inputs into Resource Models that drive the LOM plan.
- Apply your expertise across diversified iron ore deposit styles; including CID/CIDS, BID, DID, and BIF/hard rock hosted mineralisation.
- Leverage embedded CIDS experience to drive near mine exploration and resource definition in operationally complex environments.
- Actively work with the Technical Manager Resource Geology to challenge and review mining plans to ensure they accurately reflect the geological model and maximise deposit value.
- Provide strategic input into mine planning value optimisation, identifying opportunities to improve ore recovery, reduce dilution and enhance resource utilisation.
- Apply your understanding of downstream iron ore processing, including lump/fines ratios, deleterious element management and product specifications to align geological outputs with processing and product targets.
- Lead and develop a high-performing geology team, supporting day-to-day logistical demands for staff and contractors across geology, mineral resources, and exploration activities.
- Manage the geology drilling activities schedule in conjunction with the site team, including drill rig allocation and earthworks prioritisation.
- Facilitate effective liaison between Technical Services and Mining stakeholders to support planning and personnel resourcing.
- Ensure QAQC of Iron Ore resource development meets the standard required to support Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve estimation.

- Extensive experience in the mining or natural resources industry.
- A strong iron ore background with demonstrated technical expertise across multiple deposit styles, including hands-on CIDS experience.
- Proven ability to contribute to and critically challenge mine planning processes, with a clear understanding of how geology drives value.
- Working knowledge of downstream iron ore processing and its relationship to geological variability.
- Proficiency in 3D geology software (Vulcan, Micromine, Leapfrog) and the Microsoft Office Suite including MS Project.
- A strong understanding of geospatial data management, Heritage, and Environmental guidelines.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams in a staffing or project capacity.
