About

Our MinRes Marine team are on the lookout for an experienced Marine Safety Advisor. This role will be based out of our Onslow Coastal operations on an 8:6 FIFO roster.

In this role, you will support Marine operations by providing practical health and safety advice, supporting risk management, and contributing to the implementation and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System. A key focus of this role over the initial 12–18 months is to support the rollout of the business unit’s Critical Risk Management (CRM) program and psychosocial risk management initiatives through field engagement, verification, consultation, assurance, reporting, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Provide practical WHS advice and support across Marine operations.
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of WHS programs, systems, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Support rollout and embedment of the CRM framework, including critical risk identification, critical control verification, and field assurance activities.
  • Support implementation of psychosocial risk management initiatives, including consultation, hazard identification, risk assessment, controls, and action tracking.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, field interactions, verifications, and audits to identify hazards, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support leaders and workers to identify, assess, and manage operational risks, including physical and psychosocial hazards.
  • Assist with maintenance and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System, including document review, action tracking, and assurance activities.
  • Support incident and event investigations, including corrective actions, reporting, and sharing of learnings.
  • Monitor relevant WHS legislative and industry developments and assist with implementation of required changes.
  • Support workforce consultation and engagement through safety meetings, toolbox talks, leader interactions, and awareness initiatives.
  • Prepare reports, metrics, trend analysis, and improvement recommendations within required timeframes.
  • Build effective working relationships with leaders, workers, contractors, and other stakeholders to support positive safety outcomes.
  • Undertake other duties consistent with skills, competence, and training

What will you bring?

  • WHS Certificate IV
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Cert IV in TAE (Desirable)
  • Internal/External Auditor Qualification (Desirable)
  • ICAM or TAP Root Investigation Technique Qualification (Desirable)

Essential

  • Experience in a safety advisory, HSE coordination, or operational safety support role in a high-risk industry
  • Experience in hazard identification, risk assessment, and practical risk management
  • Experience supporting safety systems, inspections, audits, assurance activities, and corrective action processes
  • Experience supporting incident investigations and action tracking
  • Ability to engage effectively with frontline workers, supervisors, and leaders
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience supporting safety initiatives, operational improvement, or change programs

Desirable

  • Experience or exposure to critical risk, fatal risk, or control verification processes
  • Experience or exposure to psychosocial risk management, mental health, respectful behaviours, or related workforce safety initiatives
  • Experience in marine, maritime, port, offshore, or vessel-based operations
  • Knowledge of Maritime Domestic Commercial Vessel (DCV) Regulations, marine safety management systems, or international marine standards
