The Role:

Our MinRes Central Pilbara - Iron Valley Team are currently seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to join the team on an 8:6 FIFO roster.

This position supports MRL’s focus to provide a safe work environment by providing specialised service and advice to employees and Management in the provision of all Workplace Health and Safety functions, including risk management, hazard, identification, workplace inspections, safety audits, mentoring and incident investigations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice on all aspects of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS), including developing and implementing WHS programmes, hazard and risk management, compliance, incident investigations, and staff training.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with all workgroups, especially management, supervisors, safety reps, and key stakeholders.
  • Support the development and implementation of safety systems, processes, and practices aligned with the corporate management system.
  • Monitor and respond to WHS legislation and workplace emergencies.
  • Investigate incidents and submit detailed reports and recommendations.
  • Maintain the site’s safety management system.
  • Lead safety committee meetings and support the development of Health and Safety Representatives.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, identifying and reporting hazards or unsafe conditions.
  • Manage moderately complex projects using initiative and sound judgement.
  • Prepare reports within set timeframes.
  • Mentor and coach staff and leaders in risk management processes.
  • Ensure thorough understanding of the safety management system.
  • Always uphold confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Undertake other relevant duties as required.
  • Conduct safety audits (on-site and desktop) to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Review site procedures and plans as needed.

What will you bring?

  • Territory Level Qualification in Heath and Safety
  • Current: Western Australian Drivers Licence
  • Extensive experience in a Mining or allied lead role.
  • Incident Investigation and Reporting (ICAM or Taproot).
  • Knowledge of Risk Management and Loss Prevention techniques.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of safety management systems.
  • Experience in the practical application of safety in a heavy industrial/mining industry.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Western Australia Occupational Health and Safety, Workers' Compensation Legislation, Regulations, Standards and Codes of Practice.
