About the role

  • Provide skills, integrity and knowledge in key areas of civil and earthworks engineering, including road design standards, legislative requirements and best industry practice.
  • Understands project specific needs; identifies and addresses design parameters and problems; develops and implements solutions.
  • Provides leadership and mentorship to their team, collaborate effectively across the department and with our Contractors.
  • Independently evaluate, organise and prioritise work based on business demand.
  • Interface with other Project Management, Project Directors, and engineering management and leads.
  • Co-ordinate and lead civil engineering and design scopes performed inside or outside the Company.

 In this position you’ll:

  • Proficient in Civil Engineering and Design in compliance with the relevant Australian Standards, Main Roads WA Standards and Austroads Guidelines.
  • Facilitate geotechnical engagements, report assessments and help define geotechnical design requirements.
  • Work closely with internal and external hydrology teams to implement modelling outputs into our designs.
  • Engage and lead third party consultants who are engaged on our projects or as required for specialised design.
  • Review and approve civil design, modelling, reports and construction drawings.
  • Provide engineering and design advice and approval on roads, earthworks and pads.
  • Facilitate the training and development of engineers and designers in his/her team.
  • Ensure accuracy of Materials Take-off lists.
  • Provide technical support during construction and to operation teams.
  • Promote cost savings and identify improvement opportunities with regards to design, engineering and work practices.

 Necessary skills and qualifications:

  • 8+ years’ experience in a similar level role.
  • Tertiary Degree Qualification in Civil Engineering.
  • Strong written, verbal communication and team building skills.
  • Demonstrate a positive “can-do” attitude.
  • Desire to implement and follow through on multiple issues and projects to achieve desired results.
  • High level of PC literacy across Microsoft Office Packages.
