The Opportunity
MinRes is seeking a seasoned mine closure professional to step into a leadership role within our Technical Services Division. As our Senior Closure Advisor, you'll take the reins on complex, multi-site closure programs bringing deep technical expertise and the confidence to influence outcomes at every stage of the mine lifecycle.
Reporting directly to our Closure Lead, you'll be a central figure in driving robust baseline studies and mine closure plans that meet both project objectives and regulatory requirements. You'll be adept at managing competing priorities across multiple concurrent projects, all while maintaining a high standard of technical output and building effective relationships with a broad range of stakeholders — from operational and planning teams through to regulators and Traditional Owners.
Based at our Perth HQ or site-based depending on the successful candidate, this role is for someone who is ready to lead, influence, and deliver integrated closure outcomes at scale.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading the development, review, and ongoing improvement of Mine Closure Plans in accordance with WA legislation, industry standards, and company objectives.
- Working collaboratively across Mine Planning, Operational, Environment, and Heritage teams to embed closure planning into life-of-mine and reduce long-term closure liabilities.
- Proactively identifying and managing closure-related risks, developing strategies that support viable and sustainable post-mining land use.
- Project managing closure and rehabilitation studies, including field trials, sampling and analysis of mineral waste and soils, and scientific research projects.
- Contributing to stakeholder engagement with Traditional Owners, regulators, local communities, and landholders.
- Preparing high-quality technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders, including reports, presentations, cost estimates, and procedural guidance.
About You
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in mine closure, operational or consulting within the mining sector.
- Demonstrated experience in mine closure planning, rehabilitation, or a related environmental discipline .
- Strong understanding of WA mining and environmental legislation, including Mine Closure Plan requirements.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and deliver quality outcomes within agreed timeframes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information for a range of audiences.
- A collaborative and pragmatic approach to problem solving across multidisciplinary teams
- Experience in mine engineering or mine planning (highly regarded)
