The Opportunity
The Study Lead will be responsible managing projects through the crucial development phase—from exploration drilling and concept design to stakeholder consultation and preparation for Financial Investment Decision. You’ll play a key role in driving multiple projects forward, supporting joint venture activities, and overseeing specialists in environmental, native title, and heritage approvals. Your ability to engage stakeholders and coordinate agreements, surveys, modelling, and regulatory submissions will be essential to securing project approvals and setting up our projects for long-term success.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and monitor project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plan, and communicate project risks
- Develop project responsibilities and understand project phases and deliverables.
- Develop a stakeholder register and manage critical relationships across all aspects of the project
- Manage tenure, environmental, native title and heritage approvals processes including agreements, surveys, modelling and submissions to regulators to support project approvals.
- Manage technical assessments which can include process / logistics / infrastructure design, hydrology and hydrogeology, geotechnical and mine design
- Manage the development of financial models which include capital and operating cost estimates to then determine project economics
- Manage the development and review of project documentation to support a Financial Investment Decision
- Support the transition of the project to construction and into execution
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules and associated financial budgets
- Implement and manage the project cost controls to ensure that all work is delivered on time and to budget
What is required?
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Bachelor of Science, or related technical field.
- Extensive years’ experience in the mining industry or equivalent at a senior level
- Strong understanding of project management and delivery
- Stakeholder engagement & management – both external & internal
- Strong understanding of financials and economics
- Cost management and document control knowledge
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.
- Well-developed communication skills– both oral and written
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities.
- Occasionally travel to site as required
