The Role:

Mineral Resources is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Tyre Specialist to support the consistent delivery of tyre maintenance standards across our MRL and CSI operations.

This role is currently on a 5:2 roster however, due to working across all sites, regular site travel will be a requirement. Our expectation would be that you would spend half your time on various sites and half in Perth.

 

Reporting to the Principal Tyres and Ground Engagement, this role is a key technical resource within AMG Engineering and Strategy. You will provide practical assurance, auditing, coaching and improvement support across tyre fitting, workshops, wheel and rim management, planning, compliance and associated safety systems.

This is an opportunity for a highly capable tyre maintenance professional to make a meaningful impact on safety, capability and operational performance across remote mining operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct baseline, progress and close-out Tyre Maintenance Systems Audits across MRL and CSI sites.
  • Assess site practices against approved tyre, wheel and rim management standards, procedures, relevant legislation and Australian Standards.
  • Identify hazards, gaps and non-conformances; work with site stakeholders to develop corrective actions and monitor them through to verified close-out.
  • Audit tyre workshops, bays, storage areas, tooling, tyre handling equipment, records and work practices.
  • Coach teams on safe tyre inspection, deflation, removal, assembly, inflation, handling, jacking, torque application and return-to-service practices.
  • Verify appropriate exclusion zones, inflation controls, fit-for-purpose equipment and calibration records are in place and maintained.
  • Exercise stop-work authority where an immediate tyre-related safety risk exists.
  • Provide technical guidance on tyre, wheel and rim inspection, identification, traceability, storage, maintenance, quarantine and inventory controls.
  • Review tyre planning, scheduling, rotation and matching practices, identifying opportunities for practical improvement.
  • Deliver approved training, toolbox talks, field coaching, mentoring and competency support.
  • Build site capability by developing local tyre champions and supporting sustained ownership of AMG standards.
  • Produce clear audit reports, action plans, close-out documentation and leadership updates.

What you will bring

  • Certificate II in Automotive Tyre Servicing Technology, or a recognised equivalent. (essential)
  • Training and Assessment qualification, or approved equivalent. (Highly regarded but not essential)
  • Current C Class Drivers licence
  • Extensive mining or heavy industrial tyre fitting experience, including heavy mobile equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience in tyre maintenance systems, tyre safety controls and tyre, wheel and rim management.
  • Experience undertaking audits, managing corrective actions and verifying effective implementation.
  • Experience working across remote operations.
  • Strong practical knowledge of tyre workshop systems, tooling, inflation controls, tyre handling equipment, isolation, jacking, torque and exclusion-zone requirements.
  • The confidence to intervene in unsafe work, communicate clearly and escalate unresolved risk when required.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and a practical, field-focused approach.
