The Opportunity

Minres is seeking a skilled and motivated Project Geologist to play a pivotal role in delivering exploration and resource development programmes to support expansion across our Iron Ore Operations. This is a hands-on position, leading field activities, drill programmes, and geological interpretation to achieve safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes.

With strong technical expertise and practical field experience, you will drive discovery, uphold data integrity, and produce accurate geological reporting, while mentoring junior geologist and engaging with key stakeholders.

Our Exploration Geologist are on a regular 8/6 roster. Become part of a team dedicated to delivering high-quality geological outcomes that drive our strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and execution of exploration and resource development drill programs;
  • Undertake geological field mapping, produce digital maps and reports from field findings;
  • Use a combination of data sources to generate and justify new targets for exploration;
  • Provide a high level of interpretation to geological and mineralisation models based on data observations;
  • Collect, validate, and manage geological data from field mapping and drill programs;
  • Input all field data into the AcQuire database;
  • Drill rig supervision; geological logging; geological interpretation; ensure sampling quality is maintained;
  • Ensuring safety standards are maintained within the geology group and with all exploration contractors
  • Ensure all field work is completed to appropriate standards and is cost effective;
  • Reporting on progress of drill campaigns against physical budgets and technical goals;
  • Support the Senior and Principal Geologist with preparation of operational reports;
  • Coach junior staff including Geologists and Graduate Geologists;
  • Maintain an organised electronic filing system and ensure copies of all auditable information are stored correctly;
  • Maintain regular and effective communication and feedback with peers, subordinates and superiors;

What is Required

  • Tertiary level education in Geology
  • Extensive experience within mining and exploration industry.
  • Iron Ore experience is highly desirable and or  base metals experience
  • Skilled in geological interpretation and  understanding resource estimation workflow is desirable.
  • Previous experience working around exploration drilling rigs, RC, diamond & AC
  • Proficiency using  AcQuire, Micromine and Arc GIS software
  • Knowledge of 3D software will be advantageous (Intermediate level)
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently
  • Valid Senior First Aid and 4WD training
  • Well-developed communication skills– both oral and written
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment
