The Opportunity
The Manager Land Access and Tenure will lead in maintaining our tenement portfolio, ensuring alignment with business strategy and statutory requirements. You’ll head up a dedicated team, partnering with key stakeholders to shape and execute MinRes’ land access and tenement strategy. Provide expert advice around risk management, tenement security, and acquisition to support business growth and regulatory compliance. Key responsibilities:
- Lead the Tenements team in overseeing the protection of MinRes mining tenement assets, ensuring accurate and timely execution of compliance actions in accordance with the Mining Act, Mining Regulations, Land Administration Act and other relevant legislation.
- Oversee the identification, acquisition, and maintenance of land tenure rights necessary for mining operations, ensuring compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the Land Access team in the negotiation of land access agreements with third parties, including pastoralists, and the management of Wardens Court proceedings, to secure new tenure and ensure MinRes’s tenure is adequately protected.
- Oversee management of engagement with our pastoral stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to all mining related land access agreements and associated obligations as well as other tenement and land access conditions.
- Contribute the development and implementation of strategic plans for acquiring and maintaining access to land for exploration, mining, and related activities.
- Identify potential land access and tenure risks to project success, and propose mitigation measures that protect the business and align with regulatory requirements.
What is required?
- Tertiary qualification in a related discipline such as law, geology, planning, commerce or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in land and minerals titles management preferably within Mining industry.
- Project management skills and an aptitude for managing competing priorities.
- Strong technical background in land tenure and regulatory compliance, including drafting and reviewing agreements.
- Proficient with tenement management and compliance systems, such as LandTracker, Expenditure Watch and GIS.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities to lead and develop a team.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and senior stakeholders.
