The Opportunity

The Principal Resource Geologist will provide governance and oversight of mineral resource modelling, estimation and reporting across all MinRes operations. You will play an integral role in ensuring the highest levels of technical excellence and compliance with the JORC Code (or equivalent).

Acting as a Co-Competent Person for public reporting, you will provide strategic direction and mentoring to Resource, Operational, and Exploration Geology teams.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, review and sign‑off of geological models and mineral resource estimates across multiple commodities and sites in line with reporting standards e.g. JORC 2012.
  • Act as Co‑Competent Person (JORC or equivalent) for public disclosures, ensuring technical compliance and transparency.
  • Proactively implement improvements to drive MinRes resource governance frameworks, processes and risk management protocols.
  • Conduct and oversee high‑level technical reviews of operational ore control, brownfields expansion projects and Greenfields resource development.
  • Drive the integration of multi‑disciplinary datasets (geology, geotechnical, metallurgy, mine planning) into resource models for improved reconciliation and mine planning.
  • Champion adoption of advanced geostatistical methods and innovative modelling technologies.
  • Oversee and prioritise modelling and estimation schedules across all operations to ensure alignment with corporate strategy and reporting timelines.
  • Provide strategic input into life‑of‑mine (LOM) planning and participate in due diligence, feasibility studies, and project evaluations.
  • Communicate mineral resource results, uncertainties, and opportunities clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What is required?

  • Tertiary qualifications in Geology, Applied Geology or Economics Geology or related technical field.
  • Extensive experience in the Mining industry with a combination of Open Pit and Underground resource estimation experience
  • Multi-commodity experience with preference to Iron Ore and Lithium
  • Post graduate qualification in Geostatistics (desirable)
  • Sound understanding of Resource Estimation principles and practises coupled with the challenges of AI interventions
  • Technical understanding of Mineral systems to aid in Resource Development plans
  • Strong understanding of Mine Planning processes within Open Pit and Underground operations and the implications on Resource model development
  • Operational experience to support the validation and reconciliation of Resource and Grade Control Models.
