The Opportunity

the Senior heritage Advisor is responsible for MinRes’s heritage approvals activities to ensure continuity of operating mines and achieve greenfield development project schedules in accordance with regulatory and agreement requirements.

In this pivotal role, you will assist in planning heritage surveys and activities, whilst fostering respectful relationships with Traditional Owners and their representatives. Reporting directly to the Heritage Lead, you will support MinRes' heritage management systems, oversee Cultural Heritage Management Plans, and coordinate community engagement strategies

Key responsibilities:

  • Provides strategic advice to internal stakeholders about cultural heritage planning and management to ensure that MinRes activities comply with relevant legislative and contractual requirements.
  • Coordinates and represents MinRes on cultural heritage surveys and Traditional Owner meetings.
  • Review and update Governance documents where required and assist with any legislative and regulatory transitions.
  • Responsible for the drafting of scopes of works, ensuring that purchase orders are in the system prior to heritage surveys.
  • Support the scheduling, scoping, delivery and reporting of Traditional Owner consultation, heritage surveys, and field activities.
  • Plan and draft heritage approval documentation, including maps and presentations as required.
  • Assist to review and implement and audit Land Activity Permits and heritage conditions.
  • Assist to coordinate cultural heritage protection and management activities associated with ground disturbance, including Traditional Owner participation.

What is required?

  • Tertiary qualification in Archaeology, Anthropology, Land Management or 5 years equivalent demonstrated cultural heritage management experience, preferably in a regulatory environment.  
  • Working knowledge of relevant WA and Commonwealth cultural heritage legislation and regulatory requirements in a mining context.
  • Extensive experience in a heritage related role or similar in the field heritage within mining industry.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and complex environment, with a problem-solving mind-set.
  • Ability to communicate confidently, both in written and oral form, with strong cross-cultural communication skills, and ability to influence key internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Ability to work in corporate and a field environment with physical demands and challenging physical environment.
  • Computer and reporting skills, preferably with exposure to incident management systems and regulatory compliance reporting. 
  • Demonstrated experience using ArcGIS and handheld GPS devices, with the ability to use maps and coordinate systems.
  • Current drivers licence, with ability to operate a 4WD. Current first aid skills.
