The Opportunity
Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will lead daily geology execution across Iron Valley and Lamb Creek, maintaining system discipline across modelling and field functions. You will safeguard boundary integrity, sampling discipline and reconciliation transparency, ensuring geological deliverables are actionable for Mining and Engineering whilst protecting crusher throughput and grade delivery to port.

This position commences on an 8D6X roster flying from Perth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily coordination of modelling and field geology across both mine sites, establishing and enforcing standards for deliverables to ensure dig block outputs, blend plans and sampling remain consistent and operationally aligned.
  • Approve shot-specific sampling plans prior to issue and maintain on-site ore control support, including field inspections, assay workflow management and Acquire database integrity.
  • Execute the reconciliation workflow and prepare monthly reconciliation reporting, ensuring conclusions are clear, defensible and operationally relevant.
  • Conduct structured weekly QAQC and sampling performance reviews, identifying systemic trends and driving continuous improvement in estimation quality and grade delivery outcomes.
  • Prepare and validate weekly and end-of-month geology compliance reporting prior to Superintendent issue.
  • Maintain the grade control model, publish dig blocks and complete cross-system alignment across Vulcan, Wenco and MineMarket as required.
  • Manage key relationships with Technical Services, Mining Operations, Supply Chain Schedulers, Resource Development and Exploration, acting as the primary geology interface, and escalate material geological risks or reconciliation variances impacting safety, compliance or crusher throughput.
  • Coach and mentor the geology team, ensure all activities comply with site safety systems and MinRes policies, and uphold the Safe & Respectful Behaviours and Speak Up standards.

Your Experience and Skills:

  • Tertiary qualifications within Geology, Geoscience or relevant discipline
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a production geology environment; candidates with exploration-only backgrounds will be considered
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop Mine Geologists, Production Geologists and Pit Technicians to strengthen capability and professional standards
  • Proven QAQC discipline — structured approach to sampling performance reviews, systemic trend identification and corrective action, with strong reconciliation reporting skills
  • Proficient in Surpac, GCX add-in and Acquire (or equivalent database management software); experience with Vulcan, Wenco or MineMarket advantageous

About The Central Pilbara Project

MinRes' Central Pilbara iron ore operation produces approximately 10 million tonnes of direct shipping ore annually, delivered to Port Hedland across two active mine sites — Iron Valley (200km from Newman) and Lamb Creek (150km from Newman). Ore from both sites is blended at port to meet customer grade specifications.

With three pits running simultaneously across both sites, geology sits at the centre of production performance. The role offers genuine technical breadth — from grade control modelling through to field ore control and reconciliation — in an operation where the work directly influences crusher throughput and grade delivery.
