The Opportunity

Reporting to the Project Manager, your purpose as Mining Superintendent is to deliver results and be the driving force behind our daily mining and haulage operations. You will deliver the mine plan with exceptional precision and ensure our operations consistently meet high standards.

Your role will encompass coaching and mentoring supervisors and implementing safe systems of work. Your leadership will ensure operational efficiency and productivity and foster a culture dedicated to safety and continuous improvement for our client.

This role will be on an 8/6  roster based in Weipa in North Queensland, fly in, fly out from Brisbane or Cairns, QLD.

  • Monitor and coordinate all mining load and haul activities ensuring production targets are met
  • Optimise production efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve resource recovery.
  • Ensure that all mining operations comply with safety standards, legal regulations, and environmental guidelines.
  • Workforce planning for production teams.
  • Assisting with the planning, coordination, and allocation of physical and team resources to achieve weekly outputs.
  • Promoting and monitoring the use of safety systems, including relevant tools and documentation, to meet site safety standards.
  • Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, reduce project costs, and enhance safety.
  • Coaching and supporting Supervisors and their respective teams to effectively manage team performance.

 

What is Required?

  • Current Statutory Supervisor Schedule 26 or working towards
  • Significant experience working in a Leadership role within the operational mining environment
  • SSE or QM certification is highly advantageous
  • Strong understanding of mining equipment and operational processes
  • Experience with workforce planning and training needs analysis
  • Ability to analyse and interpret technical data to make informed operational decisions
