The Opportunity

Technical Manager – Lithium Resource Development will be responsible for managing and safeguarding the delivery of geology data inputs which drive lithium resource models for our operational sites and studies, ensuring all risks and opportunities are accessed and communicated.

Leading a dedicated technical team, you will de-risk the geological inputs into mine planning, act as custodian for Short-Term Ore Reserve Models (STORM) and provide expert support to Technical Services teams across both open pit and emerging underground operations. Your expertise will underpin operational and investment decisions, drive continuous improvement, and ensure the integrity of resource data used company wide.

This roving, position operates on a flexible 4/3 roster aligned to site activities, with corporate office involvement as required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to the Mine Planning teams for geology inputs into both the open pit and underground studies
  • Defines drilling requirements (in conjunction with the Competent person) for the respective Resource Models by using both reconciliation data and independent reviews to ensure the appropriate level of resource classification is achieved.
  • Leading a technical team responsible for the collection of geological data to support the development of both mineral resource and grade control models.
  • Management of the geology drilling activities schedule in conjunction with the site Technical Services team to assist with project scheduling across the operation, to include, but not limited to; drill rig allocation and earthworks management.
  • Ensure quality assurance and quality control of Lithium resource development and grade control data is of a suitable standard to support Mineral Resource classification.
  • Provide technical guidance to the contract team with respect to both drilling and analytical services.

What is required?

  • Tertiary qualifications in Geoscience or related technical field.
  • Practical understanding of Resource Estimation principles
  • Extensive experience in the Mining industry with a combination of Open Pit and Underground exposure
  • Strong Hard rock background with emphasis on felsic intrusive systems
  • Previous mine site-based experience at a Senior Leadership level.
  • Technical understanding of Mineral systems to aid in Resource Development plans
  • Strong understanding of Mine Planning processes within OP and UG operations
  • Have a strong understanding on Geospatial data management with particular emphasis on disturbed footprints
  • Demonstrated success leading a technical team, in a staffing or project capacity.
  • Vast experience participating in the Hazard Identification / Risk Assessment process.
  • Demonstrated experience liaising with contractors to achieve project goals.
  • Effective budget planning and financial management skills
  • Strong ability to Manage and Plan geology data gathering processes within an active mining operation.
  • Strong ability to engage with stakeholders to enhance deliverable outcomes.
  • Comprehensive demonstrated skills in the use of Geology 3D software (ideally Vulcan, Geology Core, Leapfrog)
