The Opportunity

MinRes Marine’s Technical team is expanding and seeking their next Ship Superintendent to provide technical advice, and ensure safety and efficiency is consistently applied for our transshipment operations.

The Ship Superintendent will play a crucial role in with the technical operations of MinRes transhippers and pusher tug boats, whilst maintaining the overall performance and operational management of the vessels assigned to them.

For this position you will report directly to our Ship Manager and occasionally oversee projects onsite in Onslow as the business requires.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the MinRes Marine team with technical advice to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Assist with the operational, financial, technical, safety, efficient operations and regulatory performance of the vessels assigned to them.
  • Support MinRes Marine Team with periodical attendance at shipyards during vessel modifications and routine refits
  • Identify, recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives which help improve safety, reduce project costs, and/or improve productivity.
  • Provide significant input into the maintenance of the Planned Maintenance Systems for the vessels assigned to them.
  • Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to identify and rectify technical issues that promote safe and efficient operations.
  • Assist the Ship Manager with technical and engineering requirements of the fleet

What is required?

  • Class 1 Marine Engineer (essential)
  • Other Marine, Engineering or Project Management qualifications (desirable)
  • Extensive experience of Marine Projects or Vessel Operational background in senior roles (essential)
  • Demonstrated experience working as a team member
  • Proficient computer literacy skills with a willingness to learn and utilise new technology as required.
  • Familiarity with marine planned maintenance and procurement systems (desirable)
