The Opportunity

Reporting to the Group Manager Safety, you will ensure robust, systematic processes are in place to support the Three Lines of Defence model for risk management and internal Health and Safety (H&S) governance and assurance programs. Acting as a subject matter expert, you will provide expert guidance to MinRes employees, contractors, and leadership at all levels, including H&S professionals and representatives. In this role, you will support ongoing business improvement by offering strategic insights on health and safety compliance, all while driving the effective delivery of assurance initiatives. 

Key responsibilities;

• Support the design, rollout, and continuous improvement of scalable health and safety strategies, policies, and assurance programs across all operations, ensuring compliance with legislation and industry best practices.
• Lead and execute scheduled audits and risk-based assurance activities, tracking key risks, controls, and rectification initiatives, and reporting compliance outcomes to executive leadership.
• Build cross-business capability in risk management and assurance, providing practical guidance, training, and mentoring to operational leaders and staff.
• Analyse safety data, monitor the effectiveness of risk reduction initiatives, and coordinate group-wide safety improvement programs in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety legislation, standards, and technical advances, integrating these into company systems, and representing MinRes at industry and regulatory forums.
• Foster strong relationships with employees, contractors, suppliers, and regulators to champion a safety-first culture and deliver high-quality, multidisciplinary safety services.
• Lead, manage, and develop safety teams to achieve targeted outcomes, resolve conflicts, support change management, and ensure resources are used efficiently.
• Model visible safety leadership, communicate effectively at all levels, and contribute to the strategic direction and performance improvement of MinRes’ health and safety operations

What is required

• Bachelor’s degree or above in WHS, Allied Health, Science, Engineering or equivalent
• Lead Auditor Qualification desirable not essential
• Previous experience working within a Group Safety Function (desirable).
• Significant experience in Mining, Oil and Gas, or Heavy industries.
• Previous experience in the implementation/maintenance of a Group Health and Safety Management System.
• Previous experience in auditing OH&S Management Systems
