About

We are seeking a compassionate and highly skilled General Practitioner, with proven expertise and a strong interest in women’s health, to join our in-house GP Centre at MinRes. This role is ideal for a clinician motivated not only by delivering exceptional individual patient care, but also by actively shaping the health culture within our workforce. You will be well-suited if you are collaborative, adaptable, solutions-focused, and committed to making a tangible difference through both clinical practice and workplace health promotion.

Based in our purpose-built facilities, you will provide comprehensive medical care to MinRes employees in a part-time capacity, with GP Centre hours operating Monday to Friday. As a pivotal member of a multidisciplinary team, the General Practitioner will work closely with colleagues across health disciplines - delivering high-quality, evidence-based primary care that encompasses assessment, diagnosis, management, and prevention of a wide range of health conditions, while encouraging overall wellbeing. This includes providing women’s health services tailored to the unique needs of female employees in the mining industry.

The role requires adherence to all relevant legislation, regulations, and professional standards, including the Medical Board of Australia’s Code of Conduct, the RACGP Standards for General Practices, and state/federal healthcare requirements. You will contribute to continuous quality improvement, engage in workplace health initiatives, and ensure all care is provided in a safe, ethical, and culturally responsive manner.

MinRes has taken the unique step of integrating a dedicated GP Centre within our mining company - a progressive initiative designed to strengthen the health support available to our employees. Alongside our Occupational Health Centre, this facility enables us to address both immediate health needs and longer-term wellbeing goals. Our aim is to embed healthcare accessibility and health promotion into every aspect of working life, fostering a healthier and more resilient workforce.

As our General Practitioner, you will:

  • Provide high-quality, patient-centred care, including assessment, diagnosis, management, and prevention of a wide range of health conditions, with a strong focus on women’s health.
  • Deliver evidence-based treatment, patient education, and lifestyle advice in line with current best practice guidelines.
  • Coordinate seamless care by liaising with other healthcare professionals, allied health providers, specialists, and diagnostic services.
  • Respond promptly to workplace medical emergencies, providing care within scope of practice and arranging ongoing treatment or referral as needed.
  • Undertake minor procedures, administer vaccinations, and oversee immunisation programs in accordance with clinical standards and compliance requirements.
  • Review and communicate pathology and imaging results, ensuring timely follow-up and preventative screening recalls.
  • Utilise clinical software (e.g., Best Practice) for patient records, prescribing, referrals, Medicare claiming, and reporting.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and governance activities to maintain exemplary care standards.
  • Maintain continuous professional development (CPD) and complete all compulsory training modules.
  • Support the operational aspects of the GP clinic, including rostering and administrative duties.
  • Contribute to workplace health initiatives.
  • Adhere to all relevant legislation, professional standards, accreditation requirements, infection control protocols, and organisational policies.
  • Take a proactive role in developing and leading workplace health projects tailored to the unique needs of the mining industry, with the aim of improving clinical and preventative health outcomes, streamlining business processes, and enhancing the delivery of healthcare services within our workforce.

What Will you bring?

  • Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent recognised medical degree.
  • Current, unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Medical Practitioner with general registration status.
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP)
  • Current CPR and or Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
  • Additional postgraduate qualifications in areas such as occupational health, skin cancer medicine, or chronic disease management – desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years’ post-graduate clinical experience, with at least 3 years in a general practice or primary care setting.
  • Proven ability to assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions across all patient demographics.
  • Demonstrated experience in preventative health and minor procedural work.
  • Strong understanding of clinical governance, safety, and quality frameworks.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficient in the use of digital health systems, including Best Practice, HotDoc, PRODA, and Medicare claiming processes.
