About the role

We are looking for a Senior Management Accountant (SMA) with a proven track record in leading a team, managing stakeholders and strong attention to detail. As such the SMA role is crucial in supporting the team to deliver accurate and timely financial information and analysis.

Experience or a keen interest in AI and business improvement are strongly desirable.

Key responsibilities include

  • Frontline Management of the team and deliverables
  • Review of accounting journals and treatment of transactions supporting the month end procedures
  • Responsible for submission of Management and Capex reports
  • Interrogate and understand both the financial and operational drivers of results, with a commercial mindset
  • In depth ad-hoc analysis on the respective BU or project financials and economics
  • Coordinate budget/forecast process, ensuring inputs are accurate, analysing results and building the story to explain to the business
  • Review and challenge of budget/forecast models with both Finance and Operational team members
  • Coordinate audit processes with external parties, ensuring adequate information is provided and closed out in a timely manner
  • Balance Sheet custodianship, including review and improvement of the Balance Sheet reconciliation process
  • Ensure adequate governance and controls are in place; and that compliance with standards is maintained (financial standards, internal Delegation of Authority etc)

 

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Tertiary Degree in Accounting
  • Completed CA/CPA
  • 5+ years of experience in a range of accounting activities – including general accounting, financial analysis, audit, and management reporting
  • 2 years of experience in mining, or comparable/related industry (preferably mining services)
  • Managing a team, with direct reports in previous role
  • Power BI experience (preferred but not required)
  • Anaplan experience (preferred but not required)
