The Opportunity

MinRes is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Control Engineer to join our team at our Wodgina Lithium Operation on an 8x6 roster. As a Senior Process Control Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and optimising control systems for the lithium extraction process. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure our operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently while adhering to the highest industry standards.

• Lead process control-related projects, including upgrades, modifications, and new system installations.
• Maintain, troubleshoot and manage control system infrastructure including PLC, backup systems (Proficy Change Management), and telemetry (MIRI RTU) systems.
• Analyse downtime events, lead Root Cause Analysis efforts, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with Metallurgy/Process Engineering to resolve issues and optimize performance.
• Monitor and tune PID/cascade loops for efficiency.
• Design and implement control system modifications to improve performance and reduce downtime, adhering to change management procedures.
• Provide training to site personnel on plant operation (SCADA), electrical troubleshooting (PLC logic, VSD parameterisation), and instrumentation.
• Develop and update site-specific PCS standards, ensuring that modifications are planned and implemented to site expectations.
• Plan and implement firmware and hardware upgrades during shutdowns.

What is required?

• A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in process control engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior or leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of process control systems, including PLCs, SCADA, DCS, and advanced control strategies.
• Experience with Profinet networking and Miri RTUs highly regarded
• Proven experience in process optimisation, troubleshooting, and system maintenance within an industrial setting.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teams at all levels.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
