The Opportunity

The purpose of this role is to manage the day to day transportation and delivery of materials for the Weipa mining operations ensuring existing arrangements have the capacity to meet operational requirements and expectations according to project scheduling and site demand.

This role will be on a 5/2 4/3 roster, working in Weipa in North Queensland, Fly In, Fly out from Brisbane or Cairns, QLD.

  • Ensuring all Supervisors and Superintendents meet daily KPI targets and managed accordingly
  • Grow a quality culture driven by safe behaviour, clear and positive communication
  • Ensure plant & equipment work within safe working limits and current personal competencies, training, and qualifications.
  • Assist in accidents and incident investigations.
  • Comply with all of company and legislative requirements.
  • Demonstrate and maintain a high standard of personal safety, safety leadership and a commitment to the safety of fellow workers.
  • Ensure all incidents are reported in accordance with Project procedures and the Health and Safety Management Plan. Actively participate in safety initiatives and risk identification processes.
  • Play an active role in all incident investigation to ensure the root causes are identified and where applicable, work practices are adjusted accordingly in a timely manner.

 

Your experience and Skills

  • Extensive hands on management experience leading logistics / transport services
  • Previous experience within the mining industry in ROM preparation and maintaining healthy stock levels for the haulage team
  • A proven track record managing at both an operational and strategic requirements
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • A strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance accountabilities
  • Highly effective leadership and communication skills
